A Decade of Babywearing and Six Years of Sharing the Love:

Celebrating My Journey

Hey there, beautiful souls! Today is a very special day in my life as a Black mother of three - it marks ten incredible years of babywearing and six fulfilling years of volunteering to teach others about this beautiful practice. Join me as I take a trip down memory lane and celebrate the magic of babywearing and the joy of sharing this ancient art with other parents.

It feels like just yesterday when I first held my precious bundle of joy close to my heart in a soft, snug carrier. Babywearing entered my life as a blessing and transformed my parenting journey in ways I could never have imagined. The closeness, the warmth, the instant bond - it was a revelation of love and connection.

I had my doubts, like any new parent would, but the moment I wore my baby, all fears dissipated. Babywearing allowed me to be present for my little one, to meet their needs while still tending to other responsibilities. It gave me the freedom to move, explore, and create beautiful memories without compromising on nurturing and care.

Over the years, babywearing became an integral part of our daily lives. I cherished every milestone, every giggle, and even those occasional tears, as my little ones were always close to my heart. As they grew, so did my knowledge about the various types of carriers and wraps that catered to their changing needs.

Not only was babywearing practical, but it also played a vital role in fostering emotional and physical development. The sense of security and trust that babywearing instilled in my children was evident in their curiosity and confidence as they explored the world around them.

Inspired by my babywearing journey and eager to give back to the community, I decided to volunteer as an educator. Equipped with my personal experiences and a growing understanding of different babywearing techniques, I began conducting workshops and classes for fellow parents.

The joy of sharing the art of babywearing with others was unparalleled. Witnessing the smiles on their faces as they held their little ones close was a reward in itself. These workshops became a safe space for new parents to ask questions, share their concerns, and find the support they needed to embrace babywearing fully.

Over the years, I have been humbled by the impact of babywearing on the lives of so many parents and their children. From empowering moms to pursue their passions while caring for their infants, to helping dads embrace a more hands-on role in parenting, babywearing has broken down barriers and stereotypes, one hug at a time.

Beyond the practicality and convenience, babywearing has nurtured empathy and compassion in our community. As parents, we have come together, uplifted and supported one another through the journey of parenthood. It's a beautiful tapestry of love, woven with threads of understanding, shared experiences, and babywearing adventures.

As I celebrate ten years of babywearing and six years of volunteering, my heart overflows with gratitude. To my precious babies, thank you for allowing me to carry you through these formative years. To the parents I've had the pleasure of teaching, thank you for trusting me with a piece of your parenting journey.

My hope is that babywearing continues to touch the lives of parents and caregivers worldwide, bridging gaps and fostering loving connections. As we move forward, may this ancient art live on, reminding us all that love, expressed through a simple embrace, is a powerful force that knows no boundaries.

Ya know, babywearing is more than just a parenting tool - it is a celebration of love, unity, and growth. As I commemorate ten years of babywearing and six years of giving back, let us remember the impact we can make when we embrace and uplift one another.

Whether you are a seasoned babywearer or just starting on this incredible journey, know that you are not alone. Together, we weave a tapestry of love, one babywearing hug at a time. Here's to many more years of love, joy, and connection!

With love & gratitude,

Shari B.
